Lianne Kolirin: Working Mum

So what makes me so qualified to write a parenting blog ? Nothing really. I have never claimed to be an expert on babies or children. Like most people, my world was upended when son number one arrived in 2003. Despite having two degrees and a career, I was completely ignorant of everything baby-related. I read countless books and websites for advice on breastfeeding, teething, potty-training and more – but in practice mostly muddled through. Something clicked and my husband and I went on to have two more lovely little boys. B is six, G almost four and N is 20 months. There is always plenty of drama, as this blog will no doubt reveal. But my job keeps me sane. In between juggling school runs, playdates, etc, I work as a freelance journalist – dividing my time between my office at home and the newsroom of a national newspaper. It’s hectic, but somehow just about works.
